About
How we check listings
By Tonightlife editors, Toronto nightlife desk.
Every event and venue fact on Tonightlife carries the date it was checked and comes from a source we can name: the venue's own site or booking system, the organizer's listing, or a visit to the door. If we cannot date it, we leave it blank and say so.
Where events come from
Listings are read from the venues' own pages and booking tools (SevenRooms, Tablelist, TicketWeb, Eventbrite, Universe, Mr Black), from Resident Advisor and Discotech, and from organizers who send us their events. Each listing links to the ticket page where the venue or organizer sells, and shows the price only when that page states one. We re-sweep sources every week and refresh date-dependent pages every thirty minutes.
What we never do
- Invent a price, a start time, a dress code or a rating. A fact without a source is shown as "Not yet verified".
- Show a Google rating we did not observe on the venue's Business Profile ourselves, with the date.
- Use stock photography. Flyers are the event's own artwork; venue images are ours or none.
- List a venue as open that has closed. Closed rooms keep their page with the closing date so nobody is sent to a dark door.
- Advertise drink promotions. Guest list policies are reported in the venue's own words; liquor pricing is not.
Featured listings
A small number of events are marked "Featured" and sort first on their date. These are nights we run or partner on. Everything else on a date is ordered by type: headliners, then crawls, parties and weekly nights.
Corrections
If a price, time, address or policy is wrong, or a night was cancelled, email hello@tonightlife.to with a link to the source. Corrections are made the same day and the page's checked date updates.
