Tonightlife is a Toronto nightlife directory. You can browse it without giving us anything. When you join a guest list, request a table, start a group plan or follow a venue or artist, we collect what that needs and use it for that, and for nothing you did not ask for.
What we collect
- Guest list: your name, phone number, email if you give one, and how many people are in your party.
- Table requests: your name, phone number, email, party size, budget, occasion, arrival time and any notes you add.
- Group plans: the organizer’s name, phone number and email, and the first names and party sizes of people who join.
- Follows and email updates: your email address and what you follow.
- Site usage: the pages you view, the links you click out to (such as a ticket page), the actions above, your device type and your approximate city from your connection. We do not store your IP address.
How we use it
- To put you on the list or pass your table request to the venue, and to send you the confirmation and reminders for that booking.
- To send the emails you asked for when you follow something or sign up, each with an unsubscribe link that works in one click.
- To understand which pages and listings are useful, in totals. We do not build profiles of individual visitors.
Venues receive the names and party sizes on their guest list, without phone numbers or emails. For a table request, we pass the venue what it needs to hold the table for you.
Cookies and measurement
We set one first-party cookie, tl_vid, holding a random ID so we can count visitors without counting the same person twice. It is not linked to your name, email or phone, and it is not shared. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we skip the cookie and count you for that day only.
When you arrive from a Google ad, Google’s ad tag measures whether the ad led to a booking or a ticket click. Its ad cookies are off by default for visitors in Quebec and for browsers sending Global Privacy Control. Ticket and booking sites we link to (such as Universe, TicketWeb, Eventbrite and Mr Black) have their own privacy policies; some of our links carry a referral or discount code so the venue knows the visit came from us.
Who handles it for us
We use service providers to run the site and send messages: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (our database), GoHighLevel (contact records and messages), Resend (email) and Google (ad measurement). They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes. Some of them store data outside Canada.
How long we keep it
Site usage records are deleted after 13 months. Booking, follow and contact records are kept while we need them to run the service and answer questions about a booking. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your choices
Email info@tonightlife.co to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Unsubscribe links in our emails stop them straight away, and you can manage follows on the What you follow page. Tonightlife is for people of legal drinking age; the nights we list are 19+.
